Memory Tree Project
Katharine believes that 'nature is the best therapy'. In February 2020 she will be running a memory tree project working with children that have experienced loss. The plan is to plant a number of established fruit trees at our woods with children, in memory of loved ones. Our bees will pollinate the tree's and the hope is that future groups will press the apples, cook with them and plant further trees.
Ms B' & Honey Dog
Katharine and her therapy dog Honey work with the secondary School , 'St. Leondard's Academy. The aim is to raise the confidence, well-being and reading skills of students who find it challenging to access main stream education. This is achieved through group walks, and personal development group challenges in the local woodland , followed by small group therapeutic reading and poetry sessions. The aim of the sessions is to engage children through nature and give them a sense of belonging to it and to help heal some of their early years emotional wounding that hold them back.
We will be running immersive program, commencing in March for vulnerable students from schools and social services. The aim of the courses are to change children's lives for the better. They will be given a nature sanctuary where our bees and the woodland will form the backdrop to young people's well-being. The courses offered will also link into academic qualifications and awards. Thanks to recent crowd funding we will be able to teach fireside cuisine and healthy eating around a fire.
